Tough Enough To Wear Pink?
The Western Industry has joined together to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer. The campaign is titled: “Tough Enough To Wear Pink?” The colour pink is not normally something you would associate with the tough sport of Rodeo, Wagon Racing and Agriculture Fair Events. The reality is breast cancer has touched the lives of our Western Heritage community and our partners want to put this important health issue top-of-mind at Agriculture Fairs, Rodeos and Chuckwagon events.
The brain child of this awareness and fundraising event is Katie Wheatley from California. Breast cancer touched Katie’s family and from this experience Katie and her Rodeo friends fought back by raising awareness about Breast Cancer. Wrangler joined the campaign and came up with the now world famous Wrangler Pink Shirt, sharing a portion of the shirt sales and other Wrangler Tough Enough to Wear Pink merchandise for the campaign. All the funds raised by Wrangler and host committees for the TETWP campaign go back to Breast Cancer research from each venue.
Dawson Creek Exhibition Association was approved to join the “Tough Enough To Wear Pink?” campaign for the “Greatest Show in the Peace.” Visit the web site at toughenoughtowearpink.com and find our event posted with all the other Rodeos and Agriculture Fairs across Canada and the US.
The TETWP day kicks off with the downtown parade at 10:00 a.m. Watch for the Dawson Creek Exhibition parade group all dressed up in their “Pink.”
4-H kids will be looking after the 50/50 draw during Friday’s Rodeo and Friday’s Chuckwagon and all of the proceeds from the Dawson Creek Exhibition’s share will be donated to the TETWP fundraiser.
Our Customer Service Booth will once again have TETWP merchandise on sale from Wednesday to Sunday in the Log Cabin in the trade fair area the fair grounds and Friday at the Grandstand.
